@AwedFlood Why do you think gender is still binary when sex isn’t? There’s about as many intersex people in this world as there are readheads. So when it’s *proven* there aren’t just two sexes, and it isn’t this super rare anomaly that happens once every 100 years on a blue moon, why do you think there is still only two genders even if you still believe sex determines you gender?

Who cares? Judge a person by their personality as an individual regardless of gender. Gender is a small part of someone's identity and it's okay to identify however you want or to not identify at all.

@TryingLaw Yeah but the thing is, intersex is a HUGE spectrum and can appear in many ways. So much so that it can't truly be counted as one sex but as a cover term for many other sexes besides male or female.

@TryingLaw Yeah I just replied to another person's comment. Opening up old hyperfixation for this. Okay so sex is normally decided by chromosomes. These tend to be, for most people, XX (female) or XY (male), however there's a million of mutations with this, where you someone can be born with just an X, XXY, XYY, or a million other combinations! And chromosomes also aren't perfect. As the genes can appear on different chromosomes due to different mutations. And past chromosomes, we have the actual making of proteins, meaning the genes and chromosomes are reacting. Cells might not always respond to these and thus won't make the proper proteins. They may miss certain hormones the body is releasing. Meaning someone born with XY chromosomes might have an unexpressed Y chromosomes and thus be born without a penis despite being chromosomnally male. Biological sex is a huge spectrum, and this is still pretty basic of an explanation.

@1stGabriel Actually no. External genitalia is often varied itself and internal genitalia might not match. Going further, cells and hormones play a huge part in the function of cells. Also even the chromosomes, which a lot people see as a full stop to decided sex, aren't perfect. The gene for a penis is the SRY gene, which normally appears in the Y chromosome, but can appear on an X chromosome. Meaning someone XX, chromosonally female, can be genetically male, and if hormones are not received by the cells they might even be hormonally nonbinary.
