Can I say the N word if I'm mixed?

Just for some context, both my parents were born and raised in diffrent countries before moving to t he US and meeting eachother. My dad is 100% Jamaican and my mom is Canadian with a little French mixed in. I look very black just with a lighter sking tone then my dad. I don't use the word myself unless I'm singing but as of recently my friends are wondering if I can say the word (they're white). I didn't know myself. Like can I only say half the word? Even then I don't find much use for it so if people don't think so I won't be crying tonight. I mean, I live in an area where I am 1 of 5 black students in my grade (about 170 total) so all my friends are white and I think it would make them uncomfortable. Thoughts? ... read more

Bro that's literally me. My father's Cameroonian & my mother's White. And I'm very dark for being mixed as well. However, I never say the n word. I do this because I hear so many white/mexican people complain about wanting to say it, yet I'm literally black and can live my entire life without doing so. But to answer, I'd say you can say the full thing. Back then, you would've been been considered full black regardless of if you're mixed or not so yeah.

I really don't know if that should be a problem. I've been called Bachicha and a communist by nature from my dad coming from Italy. I've also been called the big baguette from my mom's French side. I've also been called a Nazi for my dad's real mother's german side. So I really don't think we should be worrying about this stuff anymore. We talk about all this stuff about black people need this or white people did that. It took till after the 90's for us to apparently start dividing each other again because of past racial stuff. From what my mom, dad, and blood and step grandparents that throughout the 70's until after 90's no one gave a shit about all of this so just stop worrying about it.
