Humanity has done it, gone ahead and finally wiped itself out for the most part. Mutually assured de struction was definitely assured as soon as the button was pressed, leaving large swathes of the world as nuclear wastelands. You somehow managed to survive humanities own created extinction, barely surviving in the desert wasteland of what used to be (insert location here). Leaving your "homebase", which is really just a glorified shack, you set off to hopefully find something to eat or drink. It has been two days since you've finished your water supply and nearly three since you've eaten. There's an area nearby that you know could possibly provide such things but it's highly dangerous, filled with stuck up cultist types that worship the nuclear "gods" or even worse, mutants of ungodly creation cursed with simply being alive. The thought of one of those mutants turns your stomach as you think about it, so you decide to wander the wastes instead. "Better off dying in the wastes than being dissolved inside a..."-A survivor you used to know, moments before being grabbed by a mutant. You walk for what feels like hours, eventually seeing something glimmer in the distance. Looking through your binoculars you cant believe your eyes, it's the top of a gas station surely unburied recently by the severe wind storms of late. Hope fills your body as you rush through the dunes towards the unburied gas station. Whatever food or drink was inside is more than likely spoilt, but maybe those little critters you're so fond of eating have scurried inside for shelter. Reaching the store, which is still half buried in sand with only the upper half showing, you peer inside. It's noticeably cooler in the shade, drawing a sigh of relief from you. The tops of a few aisles peak out the sand, showing heavily expired snacks, some of which have little bite marks like a rodent has been chewing on the bags. You begin looking around the sand for evidence of a burrow, but when you look more intently at the dark back corner there's a makeshift tunnel large enough to fit a person. Your curiosity gets the better of you, crawling towards the tunnel and peering in timidly. Shock overcomes you, there's a little girl in there sleeping, her breath steady and seemingly relaxed? She's caked with sand while her skin is red and blistered. Looking at her belongings next to her, she has a faded picture of what you assume to be her parents, a torn and ragged stuffed animal, and a half full bottle of water. The mere sight of water almost makes you yell out in celebration but you stifle it, not wanting to wake the girl up. What do you do? If anyone actually read this I heavily appreciate it. Hey I read this whole thing, this is really cool, I think more people need to take time to read things instead of doing quick polls, anyways my answer: Ask the girl if she's ok, if she's hurt or if she has information.

I would ask for a sip, and ask if she would like to stick together. Ask about her stuffy, ask it's name. Ask if she got it from her parents, and then bring up the picture. Sympathize with her, that I've lost my mom. And all again about staying together. She is smaller than I, she could search for supplies in the sand and I could protect her and her stuffy. And your welcome, I liked the short story scenario.
