@MattBHart yeah my LO is going to be 6 soon and she does her best to talk and I know she knows way more words than she's using because it will just be random one day she will say something I've never heard her say before and I'm like yes party!!!!! Lol but I'm not sure how to help break her completely of talking her language to others witch is mostly noise that only I understand and it more like mood based or if she is over whelmed. So many people don't remember being that young, and it's a GOOD thing. Normally meanta you had a happy child hood or at least from what I know I started having a rough life around 3-4 so I can remember like blips of just really bad stuff like when my father would beat my sister or when he left us it was all fast pace bas stuff between 4-5 so it all stuck with me.

@TinnyMurder I don't remember much from before the age of 6. But I think I remember the psychiatrist who diagnosed me he was a nice man. We communicated pretty well even though I didn't speak. I had my own way of communicating though. I don't remember much of what went on during our encounter but I remember him.

@TinnyMurder oh yeah it do does make a huge difference. Im lucky I was diagnosed earlier in life when I was 3 or 4. My mom knew there was something up with me so she went to every child psychiatrist until she got an answer that she was looking for because a lot of them thought I was intellectually disabled which I'm not. I was also non-verbal until the age of 5 so that could have been I factor of why they thought that.

@MattBHart yeah old school upbringing. She's a Gen X and I'm a millennial. Mental health didn't become more accepted until our generation started to get older. And still my sister is an older millennial and she's not big into mental health but I am more open to it being a younger millennial. I wish I had help growing up more it makes a huge difference once you're an adult.

My mother doesn't believe in mental health. My sister was diagnosed with ADD when we were kids. Mom left that doctor and went elsewhere.

@MattBHart well if they were all in their 50s that's only 70s that's not that old now with medicines and all the medical advancements more and more are living longer. And for whatever reason I have heard those that are more spiteful or angry live longer. You would think it would be opposite because of like heart issues or something.

@TinnyMurder there not teaching anymore trust me they were up there in age maybe around their early to mid 50s at the time 100% both my pre school and kindergarten teachers. Even the secretary at the time was up there too and the principal at the time resigned earlier that year I was glad that she left.

@MattBHart could still check to see if those teachers are still teaching maybe or try to bring awareness to it. I know 20 years ago it was easier to get away with child abuse in schools especially for those with learning disabilities. But you'd be surprised how much it still happens.

@TinnyMurder when I started school I wasn't exactly treated right. I was a bad kid and threw tantrums all the time so they would lock me in an empty room alone until I calmed down but I wouldn't calm down it got worse I would freak out even more because I was uncomfortable and they would leave me in there pretty much the entire day until my mom came to pick me up because I wouldn't calm down. They wouldn't feed me lunch either because they were afraid I would choke. They told my mom that when she found out about what was going on. My first 2 years of school were pretty traumatizing. Yeah I went on for 2 years before my mom found out.

@MattBHart my LO was non verbal till 5 and she's talking but mostly to me. I have her in speech therapy and she does well now that it's been a while but she doesn't like to talk to many other people other than me. do you remember much of your life at that age?

@MattBHart holy hell man sorry you went through that. I would have sued the entire school if they did that to my LO. I know she can get the same way and I understand it's with lbeing over stimulated sometimes it's met with our bursts and sometimes a compleat withdrawal. I opted to hold her back a year just to try and get her more communication skills. I have been trying since her very first set back at 10 months old to get her help but no doctor was listening. It was either bc of Covid and quarantine, or I'm a helicopter mom, or some other bull shit.
