I do think it was way too young. I truly hope it was by choice at least with someone the same age. That's at least a bit less damaging. However, 14 is very young. There's a reason why the age of consent in many countries are older than that. Even if you "consent" at that age, you are by no means mentally/emotionally mature enough to make that decision. This isn't meant to be me looking down on people who are that age, and I know many that age like to say and think "but I'm mature for my age" but I promise you, even if someone is mature for their age, they are still young and inexperienced. Maturity isn't just intelligence and behavior. Maturity is also life experience. And maturity also grows as you age, because your brain continues to mature as you do so. I was always told and thought of myself as being mature for my age, back then, too. Now I'm 25 and I realized how absolutely stupid I was and my immaturity, even as late as 23. While I still think I behaved and thought more maturely than my peers, that doesn't mean I was capable of making various decisions. This is how mistakes are made. Yes, mistakes can be good learning opportunities, but I think it's best to avoid them. And I personally think 14 is too young. I wouldn't be surprised if down the line it becomes a regret at some point. Not to be depressing or negative, but I know a lot of young new adults, especially women but any gender too, who express their regret at their virginity being gone since long ago. It is a real regret people have. Not to mention sex ed is basically non-existent anymore. So while self teaching is possible, not everything may be covered nor accurate. From birth control, to contraceptives, to basic anatomy, to even what consent is. Even most adults don't realize that consent given under intimidation or coercion is not legally considered consent (at least in the USA). So anyways, tl;dr, I hope it was by choice with a similar age but even if it was, 14 is much too young imo.

Also, in these comments I've seen at least one person express their regret at losing their virginity at 15, specifically. Teens in general often think that they are mature enough. But looking back, I think many now adults would agree that true maturity is recognizing that you are not at a point where such a big decision can be made at your current age. It often becomes a huge regret for people later in life, losing it too early. I won't say waiting for "the one" or anything like that is the correct step. But I do think at least reaching legal adulthood would be smarter, to protect your future self. Not to mention I'm well aware the lack of proper sex ed, and very very little people take the time to self educate properly about it either. Even most adults don't know sex ed. Knowing what sex is isn't proper sex ed. And sex ed is more than birth control and condoms, too. I will admit that virginity in many ways is a social construct. The hymen within female genitalia can break from many things, not just sex. And otherwise having a first time is probably no different than any other time. But even this being the case, "firsts" tend to be inherently special for the vast majority of people. Anyways, the unfortunate thing is that teens will do what they set their mind to. But I advise against making that decision right now. I'm saying this with a genuine desire to help you. You might think you won't regret it, but you don't know for sure. Please be smart and safe. 💞

It's supposedly in our nature to experiment, but I personally don't think anyone should actually do it just for kicks or out of curiosity, especially at that age. If I ever have children, I'd give them the talk and politely ask them to wait until they're physically, mentally, and financially responsible. In other words, and in some places, 16 and older which is the usual average anyhow since teens get so hormonal. As someone who practices nudism, I wouldn't have much to worry about since it's been studied that teens who practices are less interested in sex because they know more about their bodies. I was a freshman at age 14. A few classmates did at that age. But.. More of my classmates chose to wait to closer to 16. And.. A number of us graduated HS as virgins. And.. Outside of schoolmates. I have met people in their 20s that still waited. 25 isn't unheard of. It depends on the individual. I didn't spring at my first opportunity. I continued to wait until I met -the one. We got married and have kids at this point. You do you. I think maturity played the biggest role for me.
